In Victoria, foxes are declared as established pest animals under the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 (CaLP Act).

Control measures used for foxes include:

  • baiting
  • harbour management where applicable
  • fumigation
  • shooting
  • trapping
  • exclusion
  • fencing
  • animal husbandry
  • property hygiene.

The department of Agriculture recommends an integrated pest management approach that combines the use of all suitable control tools. They should also be implemented in a coordinated manner at a landscape scale.
