What to expect at your appointment

Upon Arrival

  • Go to the administration desk so that the staff can review your immunisation status.
  • For children, prepare them for immunisation by undressing them. Typically, children under 12 months receive injections in the legs, while those over 12 months receive them in the arms.

During immunisation

  • When called again, approach the nurses. Ensure you have reviewed the pre-immunisation checklist and address any questions you may have.
  • Inform the nurses of any existing illnesses or previous issues. They will also provide information regarding potential reactions.

Immediately after immunisation

  • After all vaccinations have been administered, return to the seating area.
  • Stay at the venue for at least 15 minutes. This is a precaution against rare adverse reactions. If you have any concerns, promptly notify a nurse.

After leaving the Clinic

  • Common side effects may include irritability, redness, and soreness at injection sites. You may also experience a mild fever. Nurses can provide guidance on managing these symptoms.
  • In the event of a severe reaction, seek medical attention immediately.
  • It takes about two weeks for the vaccine to become effective. Most infants require multiple doses for adequate disease protection.
