Building Fees and Charges

Fees current as of 1 July 2017.
Fees are subject to review on July 1 each year.

Domestic Building Fees

Building/occupancy fees for Class 1 & 10 buildings shall generally be in accordance with the following fee scale. Fees cover permit application assessment including siting compliance, permit issue, mandatory inspections and issue of Occupancy Permit/Certificate of Final Inspection.

Dwellings/Dwelling Units/Outbuildings (Value over $41,500) 0.70% of $ cost + GST
Minimum Building Permit Fee (Up to $41,500) $290.46 + $29.04 GST ($319.50)
Mandatory inspection services as required by private building surveyor, relevant authority etc. $170.46 + $17.04 GST ($187.50)
Inspections in remote areas may incur additional fees $1.50 per km where applicable

Statutory Fees – Domestic

The following costs may also apply in addition to the basic fee scale.

State Government permit levy 0.128% of construction value over $10,000
Lodgement fee $39.10 (no gst) for works of $5,000 or more
Report & Consent for siting variations when lodged in conjunction with a Permit Application $80.40 (incl gst)
Report & Consent for siting variations when lodged prior to a Permit Application $187.50 (incl gst)
Property information requests $52.20 (no gst) ($105 Urgent Sect 32)
Preparation of applications for Authority
Approvals/Consents (eg) Modifications etc.

Regulation 610(2) Stormwater drainage discharge information $65.40 (no gst)
Building Act Section 29A Report & Consent for Demolitions $65.40 (no gst)

Application for Extension of Time to Building Permit $187.50 (incl gst)
Renewal & Inspection of expired Building Permits $187.50 (incl gst)
Checks (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic – Checking of specialist system designs where necessary and/or where an appropriate design certificate is not provided is charged on a cost recovery basis. Price on Application.

Commercial Building Fees

Building/occupancy fees for Class 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 buildings shall generally be in accordance with the following fee scale. Fees cover permit application assessment including siting compliance, permit issue, mandatory inspections and issue of Occupancy Permit/Certificate of Final Inspection.

Construction cost up to $ 50,000 $372.73 + $37.27 GST ($410.00)
Construction costs exceeding $50,00 $0.75% of cost + GST
Mandatory inspection services as required by private building surveyor, relevant authority etc. $372.73 + $37.27 GST ($410.00)
Inspections in remote areas may incur additional fees. $1.50 per km where applicable
